Who Do You Think YOU Are?

In case you don't watch TV, you might not know that Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe from Friends) has a new show on NBC called "Who Do You Think You Are?"  She follows 7 genealogical stories.  So inspired to get back into my hobby and passion of searching out my family tree.  It's been ages since I stopped to create my own family tree.  Have you ever "shelved" a hobby to raise a family?  What did you stop doing to lead your life?  What do you regret?  Or do you have regrets?

I simply wish I had time.

Then again, I must have time, because I found these things:

Icelandic Ghoodies

Once in a while I take a little imaginary journey to Iceland.  Today, it was Reykjavik Fragments that enticed me.

Kid in a Candy Shoppe

I'm on cloud nine.  I know someone that made the Etsy Front Page.  Seriously, dudettes....HUGE!  I should probably tell you that I consider her a friend, considering we've known each other in a short time.  I really do aspire to create and do like lisa roy.  She did it.  Front Page of Etsy.  Now, go vote for her, so she'll at the LOVELIES.  Also, check out her blog, it's fabulous!  Can I say I'm jealous?  Because I am.  But, I do get to look at her purses every day since they bless my store!  How wicked cool is that?

Chairs: I admit to my obsession

I have this incredible obsession with dreaming of the new perfect dining chairs that I'll purchase some day.  In all reality, I'll probably have to endure a few more years of slops and crayon curls on the sixten IKEA chairs that grace my home in their outdated beige tone.  I think the price was close to the name, hence the reason we chose them.

Now we're putting together an eating bar on the pass-through from our kitchen to our living room.  So now I obsess over counter stools, as well.

Tonight I found this:  Emeco.  She's an adorable Italian shop and here is how she describes herself (I call her a she.  Because she's a feminine shop, this gal):

We make chairs. That’s what we do.
Handmade from 80% recycled Aluminum.
It’s not easy. In fact it takes 77 steps to get there.
Designed to last for 150 years.
Now that’s what we call sustainability.

So Sorry, So Very Very Sorry

One of the best parts about being deliciously Canadian is that we love to apologize.  We free our spirits with a little "I'm sorry.  So very sorry.  So very, very sorry."  Why is that?  Oh well, sorry for boring you with that thought.

As I continue to seek out the perfect epitome of "Modern Muskoka", I knew I was drawn to Emma's Design Blogg for a reason.  I love her great sense of style and Swedish flair for the All-Things-Scandanavian.  Makes me feel like I'm sort of her Canadian cousin of Icelandic and British descent.  (See, sorry about the lack of Canadian identity yet again.)  So today, I stumble across this.  Emma, you simply just "get it".  If there was ever a reason to walk outside and scream "SOMEONE FINALLY GETS IT!", it is Emma!  She could be listening for me from Sweden and hear my Muskoka cries.   Yes Emma, Modern Muskoka might very well be Rustic Swedish.  And that birch bark ring from elizabeth scott's botanical jewellery store on etsy brings tears to my eyes how much it reminds me of home and the paper birch trees that we spent lazy summer days peeling the bark (that had already fallen from the tree) over and over again until only the ribbons of pink were left.   It should be our national tree, I think.  Oh, I'm sorry for that.

If you need more of Emma's Design Blogg, click here OR find her as a permanent fixture on my sidebar titled design links.  Oh and did I mention "I LOVE THE SWEDES!"?

What would we do without lisa roy handbags?  Honestly, you could just eat this girl's purses up in one fell swoop.  She's brilliantly talented and she blesses my store with her magic.  What's in?  Look at what she's left me and I'll introduce you to her Etsy shop as well.  We love you Lisa!  (Now I'm sounding a little stalker-esqe)

If you feel as passionate as we do about Lisa's handbags, please give vote for her over at the Lovely Clusters, so she can win at the LOVELIES!

So, I am a little biased.  I tend to like these Muskoka girls who sell their goods at my store.  But can you blame me?  Eleanor Magpie is just one of the super fabulous local girls with talent!  We can't wait to have her at The Finds to show us how it's done.  Be sure to check out her blog and follow her!

Any girl who can draw a bicycle is amazing in my books.  And any girl from Winnipeg, well girls from Winnipeg R O C K!

4.  kitty empire

okay, so I have one of these very cool messenger bags and I just love that kitty empire donates some of her profits to different animal charities.  She rules from Nelson, BC of course!  Where else?

In the city of Regina in Saskatchewan is carey shaw and she's just amazing!  Go see for yourself.

That's it for tonight.  See you next time.
